bswmphot1 Adaptive Aquatic Therapy & Swim Lessons for Special Needs children

Bubble is the leader in designing swim lessons and aquatic therapy for special needs children. We are the only institution in the western United States offering Adaptive Aquatic Therapy for children with Autism, and the only Swim School in Nevada with accredited Special Education teachers.

Special Needs

Adaptive Swim Lessons and Aquatic Therapy

We are registered providers with the ACUMEN and RESPITE support programs of Nevada’s Desert Regional Center and are working to be listed with other insurance agencies to have our therapy covered by them as well.

Bubble Swim School is the only swimming institution in Nevada with a comprehensive adaptive swim and therapy program especially designed for children with special needs.

With two certified special education teachers on staff (including the director), your child will be offered individualized instruction that is catered to his or her unique needs,  in swim lessons, therapy, or a combination of both.

Bubble Swim School as a Special Needs PROVIDER

Bubble Swim School is a registered provider with both ACUMEN and RESPITE financial support programs through the Desert Regional Center (a part of the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services).  We share their vision fully that support and services should be available to all families with special needs children so they may exercise choice in the programs they wish their children to experience.

Adaptive Swim Lessons

Adaptive Swim Lessons are the same price and run the same amount of time as a regular lesson, and can be done at any time within our regular schedule.  To meet your child’s needs, we simply request a pre-lesson interview at least one week before lessons begin, so that we may become familiar with your child and do any follow-up research to best design the most effective methods that may assist your child.

Both our Adaptive Swim Lessons and Adaptive Aquatic Therapy sessions are given with the effort to facilitate socialization with others and the development of social skills as an element within each lesson.

Adaptive Aquatic Therapy

We strongly believe in the therapeutic effectiveness of water as a therapy, especially with children with autism. Aquatic interventions have shown to be a significant factor in the development of sensory processing, providing a needed calming tactile stimulation that decreases a child’s hyperactivity and stress.

The fact that it takes three times more effort to move through water than it does through air seems to provide the extra stimulation that children with autism as well as those that are hyperactive seem to need.

We work closely with parents to provide a common association between school, home, and our water therapy.  As with our Adaptive Swim Lessons, we request a pre-lesson interview at least one week before lessons begin, so that we may develop effective strategies to reinforce the behaviors you are currently trying to develop, as well as to eliminate behaviors you wish to be distinguished.

Each 30 minute therapy session is also designed with techniques in mind that can be incorporated at home, to maximize the exposure of the overall adaptive program.
